How To: Create Recovery Media With WAIK/ADK For Windows 10

Please note: For the creation of our WinPE we need a standardized master image in the file format .wim. Such an image is shipped with Windows since Win 7 to provide the Windows repair boot option. The use of the ADK resp. WAIK is only necessary for troubleshouting purposes if the built-in WIM image is damaged, not installed or otherwise unavailable. Thus you may want to simply uncheck the box “Use ADK”.

Step 1

Launch HDM 15 based product – start recovery media builder Wizard and check “use ADK/WAIK” option

Step 2

Press Next – if you don’t have WAIK/ADK installed press download button

Step 3

Then browser will open with download page from Microsoft server

Step 4

Press, “get Windows ADK for Windows 10” and then run ADKsetup.exe.

Select install to this computer in default folder – C:Program Files (x86)Windows Kits10

Step 5

Install with default settings

Step 6

Download and installation of needed packages will start, it will take some time

Step 7

After installation finished close the Window and launch Recovery Media Builder Wizard again and press

Browse at ADK path window and select folder with installed ADK

Step 8

Press ok and then press next

RMB creation process using WAIK/ADK as base for WinPe image should start now.
