- BCD
- Boot Configuration Data – used since Windows Vista instead of boot.ini => Wikipedia
- BMB
- Boot Media Builder – stand-alone program to create a Recovery Environment. Obsolete. Was delivered with HDM 14 and early 15 in parallel to => RMB.
- GUI
- Graphical User Interface
- MBR
- Master Boot Record – Start and definition code on MBR hard disks. Located before the first partition on a hard disk, Windows MBR is usually first 512 byte of the disk. => Wikipedia
- MSR
- Microsoft System Reserved – small partition at the beginning of a hard disk, used for boot and Bitlocker purposes. May not have a drive letter, should be only readable, essential system partition.
- OS
- Operating System
- P2P
- Physical to Physical – Adaptive Restore, restores a backup to different hardware and adopts the OS to the hardware usually by setting the driver set to generic.
- P2V
- Physical to Virtual – virtualization of a system or a hard disk, copy of physical hard disk to a VHD
- PBF
- Paragon Backup File (see “Archive formats“)
- pVHD
- Paragon Backup File in VHD format (see “Archive formats“)
- RCD
- Rescue CD/Recovery CD = bootable rescue environment
- RMB
- Recovery Media Builder – program function resp. formerly stand-alone program dedicated to create a Recovery Environment.
- UFSD
- Universal File System Driver
- VD
- Virtual Disk
- VHD
- Virtual Hard Disk
