The T2 chip is a hardware component designed by Apple which enables various security features, such as APFS internal storage encryption, secure boot, Touch ID and microphone security, as well as integrating several other controllers that are found separately on computers without the T2 chip.
You can use System information to do this. To open it, hold down the Option key and choose Apple menu > System Information. You can also use Spotlight to find System Information, or open it from the Utilities folder of your Applications folder.
In the sidebar, select either Controller or iBridge, depending on the version of macOS in use.
If you see “Apple T2 chip” on the right, your Mac has the Apple T2 Security Chip.
You can also run the Terminal utility and enter the following command:diskutil apfs list
If the section pertaining to your system volume has the line ‘FileVault No (encrypted at rest)’, it means you computer is equipped with the T2 chip.
Unfortunately, the T2 makes it impossible for our software product APFS for Windows by Paragon Software to mount such volumes.
However, there is still a way you can read and write to your Mac-formatted drive from the Windows operating system.
You can create a new partition on your system drive in macOS and format it to the HFS+ (Mac OS Extended) file system. Then you will be able to access data located on that partition under Windows OS using our software product HFS+ for Windows by Paragon Software.
To create a new partition:
Open Finder from your dock.
Select Applications.
Scroll down and open the Utilities folder.
Double-click to open Disk Utility.
Select your hard drive in the Disk Utility window. It will be the first drive on the list.
Click on the Partition tab.
Click the plus (+) button.
Change the size of the partition you wish to use by dragging the resize controls or entering it manually. Select OS X extended (Journaled) as Format. Name the new partition.
Click apply.
The new partition will be formatted into the HFS+ file system.
Now you can install HFS+ for Windows by Paragon Software from the Windows (Bootcamp) partition and access the newly created volume in the read-and-write mode.
