An “On demand backup” is a defined backup job without a schedule. After you configured this job it will be provided in the job list. Whenever you want to execute this task click it and select “Start now”.
On the dialog “Schedule” in the “Create backup job” wizard you will find a standard strategy “On demand backup”. This is predefined with the following settings:
Run time - (irrelevant) When - Schedule later Backup type - Full backups only Retention - Keep only one backup (Enable/Disable) Options - Prevent from going to sleep/hibernate Wake up from sleep/hibernate Shutdown system after the backup completed
You may want to switch the retention on or off and activate the options via checkboxes.
If this predefined configuration of the “On demand backup” does not meet your needs you may want to create your own “On demand backup”. For this purpose please click on the “New strategy” button.
Here you may choose full, differential or incremental backups, define your own retention policy usf. The catch is to select “Schedule later” for “When”.
You will find your predefined On demand tasks on the tab “Backup jobs”. Click on the job and “Start now” whenever you want to run the respective task.
